William Walden
Commander - Marines

Hicksville Veterans of Foreign Wars Past Post Commander William Walden is a 1965 graduate of Hicksville High School.  His parents moved to Hicksville in 1951 and resided there until their passing in 2004.  In 1967, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  In January of 1970, he was assigned to VMGR-152 stationed at Danang Air Base, Republic of South Vietnam.  He is the recipient of the Air Medal w 2 Bronze Stars, U.S.M.C. Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w 2 Bronze Stars, Unit RVN Gallantry Cross, Presidential Unit Citation, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

William has been a member of the Hicksville V.F.W., William M. Gouse Jr. Post 3211 since 1970.  He has been Commander from 2001 – 2006 and 2008 to present.  His father, George Walden, was the Hicksville V.F.W. Commander in 1957 -1958.

William is married to his wife Linda (formally DeVito), from Jericho, since 1969.  They have two daughters and five grandchildren.
